the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
LEED provides a roadmap for measuring and documenting success for every building type and phase of a building lifecycle through its certification process.

the LEED rating system offers four certification levels (certified, silver, gold and platinum) that correspond to the number of credits accrued in the five key areas of human and environmental health.
LEED standards cover new commercial construction and major renovation projects, interiors projects and existing building operations. Standards are under development to cover commercial "core & shell" construction, new home construction and neighborhood developments.
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the performance standards which offers compelling proof to you, your clients, your peers and the public at large that you've achieved your environmental goals and your building is performing as designed. |
